Nostalgia intends to reshape fashion into a more abstract installation, breaking from traditional confines. At its core, this collection offers viewers a glimpse into my envisioned post-apocalyptic world. Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky's desolation, The chaos of decay and ink, and the raw, irregular shapes of Russian and Serbian monuments. Worn fabric, found objects, non-conventional material, and my upbringing exploring the woods of Pennsylvania symbolize resilience amid decay. The forms and detail blur the line between creation and chaos, reflecting polluted waters and emotional turbulence.

Fashion becomes an embodiment of the post-apocalyptic spirit. Each abstract ensemble challenges conventional wearability. Heavy ceramics, shredded fabrics, and irregular shape questions the purpose of traditional fashion and consumption.

This collection embraces imperfection and the haunting beauty of decay. It seeks to spark dialogue on the intrinsic value of creativity, urging viewers to find solace and beauty amidst destruction. I would like to honor fashion by highlighting its status as an art form, beyond attire, with the hope for viewers to embrace the fragility and resilience of human expression within the folds of post-apocalyptic design.

Research / Sourcing / Design

Can you describe the core elements of your brand DNA? What unique aspects define your design aesthetic and differentiate your brand from others?

"I think I have an immersive approach to fashion with a focus beyond the attire on world-building. Sight, sound, smell, movement, character personality, and the roles within the group were all considerations in creating this lineup. Drawing inspiration from video games, film, architecture, and raw textures, the references I lean on are unique and play a huge role in my creative vision. By integrating immersion, graphic design, and primary research exploring obscure antique shops and barns, I intend to build a fuller narrative surrounding my creations.

What was the primary inspiration behind your latest collection, and how did you translate this inspiration into your designs?

"At its core, my collection offers viewers a glimpse into my envisioned post-apocalyptic world. Inspired by the desolation of Andrei Tarkovsky’s films, the chaos of decay and ink, the raw irregular forms of Russian and Serbian monuments, and my upbringing exploring the woods of Pennsylvania. The found objects, worn fabric, and unconventional materials question the purpose of traditional fashion and consumption.

To translate this inspiration into my designs I focused on world-building and found objects, the chosen material for each look reflects the image of the world it would be found within. Through this process, I encouraged viewers to envision the world in which the characters inhabit by just looking at the clothing they wear.

What change would you like to see in the fashion industry?

"I believe it's crucial for designers to continue to embrace pushing the limits of fashion norms and clothing conventions. I imagine a world where individuals are truly unique and express their differences through what they wear. Diversity is the norm, our clothing should reflect this richness, especially considering the saturation in the market.

What are you most hopeful about with the future of fashion?

"I'm optimistic about our generation's commitment to prioritizing quality over quantity. There is a rising appreciation for garments that tell a story, are crafted with care, and celebrate individuality. This focus on uniqueness not only adds value to our clothing but also fosters a deeper connection between the wearer and their wardrobe.
